Creating shapes by joining others
A very useful feature of Fireworks is that it allows you to join vector shapes
to create more complex shapes. In this tutorial we are going to join the rounded
rectangle we created to the ellipse shape to form the body shape of the GIZMO.
- Select both the shapes by either
- Clicking on one shape and then Shift+Click
on the other
or
- Clicking on the layer for one shape in the layers panel and then Shift-Click
on the layer for the other shape.
- Choose Modify > Combine Paths > Union.
The two shape have now become one. And notice there is now only one layer
in the layers panel.
- Name this one layer Body by double-clicking
on the layer title.
