Adding Live Effects

Fireworks Live Effects are a great way to enhance elements of your images. You can apply multiple Live Effects to a single object.

1. Make sure your Body shape is selected.
   
2. Click on the Add effects button in the Properties Inspector.
   
   
3. Choose Eye Candy 4000 LE > Bevel Boss...
   This is a third party filter that comes with Fireworks MX. There are many other third party filters available for Fireworks. Some plug-ins designed to be used with Adobe Photoshop can also be used by Fireworks.
   
   The Bevel Boss window will appear. Make sure you have the Basic tab selected.
   
4. Enter the settings as shown:
   
   Bevel Width: 4.00
   Bevel Height Scale: 54
   Smoothness: 48
   Bevel Placement: Inside Marquee
   Darken Deep Areas: 100
   Shade Interior: Ticked
   
5. Choose the Lighting tab and enter the following settings:
   
   Direction: 124
   Inclination: 72
   Highlight Brightness: 100
   Highlight Size: 25
   Highlight Color: White
   Shadow Color: Black

Notice the Bevel Boss effect is listed now in the Property Inspector. Using the Bevel Boss effect makes the shape look more metallic and creates the illusion of it being three dimensional.

Next we are going to add a drop shadow to finish the effect.
