Adding a drop shadow Live Effect

Using drop shadows is a simple way to create a more realistic 3D effect.

At the moment your GIZMO should look a little like this:

We are now going to add another Live Effect to the shape to make it look more three dimensional.

1. Make sure your shape is selected.
   
2. Choose the Effects add button in the Property Inspector. Choose Shadow and Glow > Drop Shadow.
   
3. Choose settings as shown below in the drop shadow control box.
   
   Distance: 10
   Opacity: 43%
   Softness: 7
   Angle: 315
   Color: Black
   Knock Out: unchecked

Your shape should now look something like this:


One of the nice features of Live Effects is that you can turn them on or off at any time. In the Live Effects list in the Property Inspector toggle the ticks on and off to see what effect the filter has.
