Cutting a shape to create another shape
The finished GIZMO has grip handles at both bottom
corners. To create these we are going to start with the Body shape and then
cutt off a section to use for the grips.
- We are going to start by making a copy of the Body
shape.
- Make sure the Body shape is selected if it
is not already.
- Choose Edit > Copy and then Edit
> Paste.
This creates a copy of the Body shape. Notice
there is now a new layer in the Layers Panel.
- Click on the 'eye' to hide the bottom Body
layer.
- Rename the top copy of the Body shape to Grip Path.
- Select the Grip Path layer by clicking on it.
This also selects the shape in the document.
- In the Property Inspector remove all Live Effects
by selecting them in turn and clicking the - (minus) button.
- In the Property Inspector remove the fill colour from the Grip
Path and remove the stroke colour also.
All you are left with is the path that defines the shape.
